What are Cats?

Cats are divided into 3 groups. House cats, the cats which you probably have, are in the group Felis. Panthera, are the large cats like tigers and lions, but not the cheetah. Cheetahs are in a seperate group called Acinonyx because they have claws that can't be fully retracted.
Cats normally have amber, blue, or green eyes, wet noses and sandpaper-like tongues. Their hearing is better then humans and dogs. They have a better sense of smell than us. They have better night vision than us. They normally live for 12-20 years.
Cats need care and attention. A cat is not only a gift, but it is also a responsibility. You cannot just forget your cat. In return, your cat will love you. Purring and pawing are just some of the ways your cat thanks you.
Some cats are nicer than others. But almost all cats are affectionate and will attach themselves to their favorite person. They will still like everyone else, just not as much as the special person.
