Toys

Now, the fun part. You have to pick some toys for your kitty. There are so many, how can you pick a good one? I'm going to try to pick some categories of toys for you to help you decide.
1. Mouse or other stuffed animal toy
2. Balls
3. Wands
4. Scratching Post/Scratching Pad
5. Other Things

1. First of all, go to the cat toy section and look for a small, ordinary stuffed toy. Is it safe? Does it have anything that can easily be pulled off? If it does, you could probably pull off all harms, or just move onto the next mouse. Would your cat like it? Maybe. It depends on the cat. Does it play a lot? If yes, than your cat will probably like a mouse toy.

2. Second, the ball toys. They nomally have something inside of them. Make sure nothing can be eaten or chewed apart. Cats like to try to get to the inside part, so safety first!

3. Third, the wands, which are normally some sort of a long plastic or metal stick with a piece of string at the end, that is normally connected to a small toy. This is so you won't get scratched or bitten in the cat's fight over the toy. Make sure the toy doesn't fall apart. Your cat may or may not like the wand toy, but most cats do.

4. Fourth, the scratching post category. Your cat needs one to scratch on, instead of your furniture. I have one that's a circle with a scratching pad in the middle and a ball toy on the outside. Our cats like to lie around and play with it. There are a lot of cat houses that have scratching posts.

5. Fifth and last, but absolutely not least, the other toys. These include rolling toys, radio-controlled toys, and all the others. Just make sure they're safe and there is no telling if your cat will like them.

There are countless toys you can make for your cat. Most cats love pom-poms. They also like to play with uncooked normal unseasoned pasta, especially penne pasta, which can be eaten by cats. Just don't step on them, they can hurt your foot. Pipe cleaners, wire with fur all over it, can be twisted into fun shapes like eights, fish, and chains. Just make sure you bend the tips so your cat can't hurt itself.
I have bought a "Make a Fish" cat toy kit, and the cats like it a bit (now it's probably in a corner ignored). They especially love the catnip pouch. The kit is made so that you cut out the pieces of felt (included, and it is easy to cut out because you cut on the lines drawn), then you sew it together (a sort of blunt needle is included) and attach decorations like bells and feathers (included). This shows that you can buy something from the store that is easy to make and still make it special for your cat or cats. Just always make sure everything is firmly attached.
Always, safety first for your cat. Make sure everything is safe for your cat before you give it to them, not after. Check the cat's toys every day or every few days to make sure that they are okay for your cat and not torn or falling apart.
