A happy cat will be nice. That is one of the basic things to know about cats. But how do you get a cat to be happy? What are some of the basic things for cats?

Your cat needs interaction. Pets want and need you to play with them at least every other day. It's okay for a few or so trips for over a day each year, but if you frequently travel or go out for over one or two days, you might need to have a friend come over to play with the cat and care for it once a day. If you travel all the time, maybe you should think about why you got a pet.

You could provide some greenery for your cats, especially if you own an only-indoors cat. You can sow seeds of grass, catnip, thyme or parsley every couple of weeks for a continuous supply.

Provide plenty of toys and things to play in such as boxes and paper bags to keep the cats happy and active. Remember that toys on their own may not be very exciting; someone should play with the cat. Do not leave all the toys out at once or it will become bored with them, you should give it one or two at a time and switch them around every so often.
